The 10 Best Activities for YOUR Canberra Hens Party!

Canberra is FULL of surprising activities for you to have the best Canberra Hens Party and you don’t have to drive up the highway to Sydney to find them.

From your more traditional bridal high tea through to painting and wineries or even taking on your adventurous side, there are options for everyone. Things for you to do to celebrate your bride – her way.

I’ve taken the hard work out of this for you. I’ve personally visited and experienced so many of the activities on offer in Canberra and here is my TOP 10 activities for hens parties in Canberra!

TEN – Karaoke

Is your bride secretly the next Whitney Houston? Maybe she’s wanting to belt out some old school Beyonce or even some Elton John? Karaoke isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but when it is, 88mph have private room options so that you can all sing from the same page and maybe even the same tune 😀 Throw in some epic party music on the club floor and the night is all yours!

But if you’re looking for a combination of activities that includes karaoke as well as bowling AND cocktails then Kingpin in the Canberra Centre will leave you with the endorphin release you are looking for!

NINE – High Tea

Who doesn’t love high tea? It’s such a fabulous hens night option as grandma, mum, mother in law to be, aunties and friends can all enjoy the sophistication and simplicity of a cucumber sandwich with tantalizing desserts and a glass of champagne set to a mellow playlist (or even live piano!).

I’ve tried so many high teas across Canberra and stand out options are definitely the stunning views from the Howling Moon, the ambience of the historic Hotel Kurrajong or the quirkiness of the White Rabbit.

EIGHT – Flower Crowns

Getting back to Mother Earth and creating a masterpiece you can wear from a gorgeous, hand picked selection of flowers has a certain grounding to it that your bride might just love.

Michic Wedding and Events have leaned into the most stunning of trends creating floral arrangements with fresh or preserved flowers. Not only will you get to create your own design but given that these flowers are dried, this arrangement will last for a long time.

Another option is creating stunning fresh crowns from the blooms at Braddon Flowers. Whichever option you choose, this activity is sure to be an icebreaker for even the quietest of attendees.

SEVEN – Winery Tours

Canberra is surrounded by some of the finest wineries in the country! But are the logistics of who’s driving, where to go to, for how long and where will you eat… all just too much?

That’s where the teams at Kamberra Kombi, Vino & Co Tours or Dave’s Tours can step in and help you out. With years of experience and built up rapport with so many wineries in the region, these teams can help you plan the perfect day. And it means you don’t need a designated driver AND you get to taste and sample the best from this stunning region.

SIX – Paint and Sip

Have you ever tried your hand at painting? Well what about painting, plus wine and nibbles plus the best girl gang celebrating your bride-to-be? It’s the recipe for success and Canberra has some fantastic studio locations for you to try your hand at becoming the next Van Gough.

My three recommendations for painting and partying here are Pinot and Picasso, The Tipsy Sketching Club and Textured Art Create and Sip. This can be such a fun night to get to know each other a bit better! It will definitely bring out everyone’s creative side (even if they don’t think they have one!) and the laughter is sure to flow.

FIVE – Bottomless Brunch

In the number five slot is one of my personal favourite trends – the bottomless brunch. From bubbles to pastries, fresh fruit to dessert, the brunch options at Amici and Muse are to die for. This is a great option to start your hens day (or even a sneaky bridal party wedding brekky!).

FOUR – Artistic Feats

Prefer to get your hands dirty? Maybe learn something new? These are the options for you if your Bride is creative and loves a hands-on experience.

Learn how to create unique items using organic Australian Clay with Luxury Clay Experiences or create some gorgeous jewellery using Freshwater Pearls with Sip and Pearl. All while enjoying wine and cheese!

THREE – Dancing Queen
It’s really what the traditional bachelorette party is all about, isn’t it? Dancing the night away! Or maybe your bride getting in some last minute practice before that first dance on the big day. Either way, you’ll need some epic dancing shoes for this recommendation!

Bring along some wine or whatever your preferred beverage is and the ladies at Wine and Grind or Shimmy Shimmy Ya will teach you an amazing dance routine to help you keep sipping! Thankfully all levels are catered for – even those of us with two left feet!

TWO – I’m onna boat!

In a city where the lakes were literally designed to compliment the hills and valleys we live in, boating is definitely an option for your hens night (or day!).

How does an intimate picnic spot, where you know no one will bother you, in the shade with guaranteed seating and a table sound? Then GoBoat was made for you. You can organise a picnic to collect beforehand (may I recommend contacting Nibble and Nourish) and then laze the afternoon away toasting to the bride-to-be. Maybe a night on the lake is more your style? A bigger group and some music of your own? The Party Boat can help you with that! There are even options to organise a DJ for the night and BBQ on board.

ONE – (Drum roll please) Cocktail making

I don’t know about you, but discovering how a House Cocktail is made makes me enjoy it even more. The bubbles, the smells, the way that its all shaken together. Seeing the way different spirits and syrups can combine to take you to a tropical island or a smokey New York bar… I think it’s a little slice of heaven. And of course, after the making is the enjoying of the cocktail.

I highly recommend cocktail making classes through Highball or 88mph and afterwards you can enjoy the club’s music and dance floors. Or to make a cocktail with that extra special Canberra flair, book in a Gin and Tonic masterclass with The Canberra Distillery

I can’t wait to hear if you booked one of these activities! I’d love to know what you thought of it. And remember, if you are looking for other options, check out the Canberra Hens Party Bible!
